A ONE-SHOT SPECIAL FEATURING YOUR FAVORITE (AND UNEXPECTED) CHARACTERS FROM THE ORIGINAL STAR WARS TRILOGY!

Move over, Boba Fett. The most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy isn’t who you think. The cold, calculating assassin droid IG-88 had a deadly reputation. Wanted criminals should tremble in fear because IG-88 will stop at nothing to get the job done. But where did it come from? What does it want? Perfection might be a good place to start. SI SPURRIER (DOCTOR APHRA) and CASPAR WIJNGAARD (DOCTOR APHRA ANNUAL) bring the terrifying droid to life!

The destruction of the Order, the death of his friends, exile — no matter what he has endured, YODA will always be a Jedi. Even in hiding on the isolated planet of Dagobah, far from the evil Empire’s reach, a Jedi’s work is never done. Marc Guggenheim (X-MEN GOLD) and ANDREA BROCCARDO (STAR WARS) will pay the wise, old master a visit!

The freedom-fighting REBEL ALLIANCE has more than its fair share of heroes — like ace pilots BIGGS DARKLIGHTER and JEK PORKINS. But they’ve been fighting the evil Galactic Empire for a long time and sometimes, even noble warriors like Biggs and Porkins need a little rest and relaxation. Is anywhere truly free from the trials of the galactic conflict? Writer and illustrator JON ADAMS (the New Yorker, LOVE ROMANCES) has the answer!

from starwars.com:

Three stories starring characters both iconic and lesser known: writer Si Spurrier and artist Caspar Wijngaard tell a tale of droid bounty hunter IG-88; a Yoda story set during the Jedi Master’s exile on Dagobah comes courtesy of writer Marc Guggenheim and artist Andrea Broccardo; and writer/artist Jon Adams focuses on rebel pilots Biggs Darklighter and Jek Porkins.

solicitation copy:

ENTER SHADOW WING! THE EMPIRE’S SALVATION! THE REBELLION’S DOOM!

As the war against the REBELLION stretches on, it is the innocent people of the GALACTIC EMPIRE who are most at risk. An elite squadron of TIE fighter pilots is assembled to help protect Imperial interests and hammer the Emperor’s fury down upon the treasonous and violent Rebel Alliance. But how far is this untested team willing to go to preserve law and order? And are the pilots of SHADOW WING as loyal to the Empire as they seem?

This April, JODY HOUSER (THRAWN, AGE OF REPUBLIC) and ROGÊ ANTÔNIO’s (X-MEN RED) TIE fighter tale chronicles the struggles and triumphs of the heroes of the Empire in the last days of civil war — but what about the heroes of the Rebellion?

Be sure to pick up the first book of TIE FIGHTER’s sister novel series, STAR WARS: ALPHABET SQUAD by Alexander Freed. From Del Rey Books, on sale this June.

from the starwars.com announcement:

THE CROSSOVER SERIES FROM DEL REY AND MARVEL COMICS, SET IN THE TIME OF ALPHABET SQUADRON, INTRODUCES SHADOW WING, AN ELITE TEAM OF IMPERIAL PILOTS.

From a certain point of view, the rebels are traitors to the Empire, putting the innocent people of the galaxy at risk. In the last days of the Galactic Civil War, an elite squadron of TIE fighter pilots, known as Shadow Wing, is assembled to protect Imperial interests.

Starting in April, you’ll meet these brave pilots in Star Wars: TIE Fighter, a new Marvel miniseries set in the time of Alexander Freed’s forthcoming novel Alphabet Squadron, which we are happy to announce will be a trilogy. The exciting new crossover series from Del Rey and Marvel comics, set after Return of the Jedi, will follow the brutal fallout during the fall of the Empire from both sides of the battle.

The comic series is written by Jody Houser, who penned both Marvel’s Star Wars: Thrawn series and the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comic adaptation, with art by Rogê Antônio and other acclaimed artists, including cover art created by the team behind the recent Darth Vader comic series, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Elia Bonetti.

He has been many things: a SITH warrior, a commander, a destroyer. DARTH VADER is to many throughout the GALACTIC EMPIRE a symbol of fear and mysterious, otherworldly power. COUNT DOOKU IN “THE COST”

from johntylerchristopher.com:

So we’ve been doing these action figures for a bit, and it shocks me some of the epic characters we have yet to do. We have a onesie wearing Ithorian, a green ribbed Rodian, a bunch of bounty hunters, but only one OBI-WAN KENOBI!

There are so many versions of Old Ben, so I just had to take a stab (no pun intended) at on of my favorites. I was really considering going with the General Kenobi version, because I desperately want to work on characters from the cartoons. But man, I absolutely LOVE the Revenge of the Sith version of him. This is the version of him I always dreamed about as a kid. The Obi-Wan that fought Anakin, hid Luke, and exiled himself on Tatooine. When I played with the original toy, I always wondered what he looked like during that time, and I made up my own scenarios about how it all went down (and for the record I always had Anakin [who just happened to already be wearing his Vader suit] fall in acid [aka soapy water]).

Well thanks to ROTS, all those questions got answered. It’s by far my favorite movie from the Prequels, and Ewan McGregor’s portrayal was so awesome! So with all that said, it’s time to announce…

– JTC EXCLUSIVE full-color OBI-WAN KENOBI Action Figure Variant for Age of Republic: Count Dooku #01, exclusively at johntylerchristopher.com

He will be available for Pre-sale on February 28th.

Like before, we are offering graded books of 9.6 or better from both CGC & CBCS. You get to choose between two exceptional grading services.

The book will be limited to 3,000.

– You are welcome to order as many Obi-Wan books as you want (while supplies last).
– Graded books will be shipped separately for Domestic Orders only. Please see our FAQ page regarding graded book procedures.
– Orders will begin to ship on Monday, March 18, 2019. We are still a small team and require more time than the average store to ship out hundreds of orders, so we thank you for your patience and understanding.

A CALL TO ADVENTURE ON THE VERY EDGE OF THE GALAXY! THE COMIC TIE-IN TO THE THEME PARK!

BLACK SPIRE OUTPOST has long been frequented by smugglers, merchants and travelers from every corner of the galaxy looking to make their score on the infamous black market – or experience the exotic thrills only the remote world of Batuu has to offer. Beings like the infamous DOK-ONDAR, a proprietor of rare and one-of-a-kind antiquities, thrive on the unique opportunities which abound on the lawless outpost at the very edge of Wild Space! But the evil FIRST ORDER has come to Batuu and the survival of the entire outpost is at stake! The road to Black Spire’s possible salvation might begin in the past…with a job HAN SOLO and his partner CHEWBACCA pulled for Dok-Ondar.

The newest chapter of the growing Star Wars saga begins this April with ETHAN SACKS (OLD MAN HAWKEYE) AND WILL SLINEY’S (BEN REILLY: SCARLET SPIDER, SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY) GALAXY’S EDGE – the riveting comic adventure tie-in to the theme park.

from the starwars.com announcement:

WRITER ETHAN SACKS TELLS STARWARS.COM ABOUT SETTING HIS STORY AT BLACK SPIRE OUTPOST IN A CROSSOVER MINISERIES BASED ON THE NEW STAR WARS-THEMED LAND COMING TO WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT AND DISNEYLAND RESORT.

Pirates, smugglers, merchants, and wanderers from across the galaxy have traveled to make their score or sell their wares at the infamous black market located at Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.

In April, journey to this locale in the Outer Rim in the new Marvel Star Wars comic series Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which ties into the new lands opening at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort later this year.

Readers of the five-issue miniseries will be the first to meet the infamous Dok-Ondar, the Ithorian collector of rare antiquities, and find out what happens when the First Order reaches the edge of wild space. The key to saving this lawless outpost might just involve a job pulled long ago by none other than Han Solo and his cohort Chewbacca.

StarWars.com: Your story takes place on Batuu at Black Spire Outpost, a place fans will get to visit later this year at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. How did you approach adding to this vibrant, remote black market?

Ethan Sacks: Our series will give fans the chance to visit Black Spire Outpost months ahead of voyaging to Batuu in person. Armed with top-secret sketches and information from Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm, we are keeping this authentic to the spirit of this rich new setting. I’d tell you more, but I already have the death sentence on 12 systems….

publisher info:

Marvel Worldwide

comic book (39 pages)

$ 3.99

Marvel press-release:

New York, NY—March 15, 2019—In celebration of Marvel’s 80th Anniversary, Marvel is releasing a special Facsimile edition of the 1977 STAR WARS #50! Coinciding directly with May’s upcoming STAR WARS #108 one-shot from Matthew Rosenberg and artists Giuseppe Camuncoli, Luke Ross, Kerry Gammill, Andrea Broccardo, this Facsimile features a full reprint of the issues’ classic story – ads and all! – from writer Archie Williams and artists Al Williamson, Tom Palmer and Walter Simonson.

With new stories of original series characters such as Jaxxon, Amaiza, Domina Tagge, Valance the Hunter, and more, STAR WARS #108 acts as a direct sequel to Star Wars #50 – making this a truly epic 80th Anniversary celebration!

“So many true comic legends worked on those books- Archie Goodwin, Roy Thomas, Walt Simonson, Howard Chaykin, Al Williamson, David Michelinie, Klaus Janson, Jo Duffy, and so many more. It’s pretty overwhelming to think about, actually. What they made was the product of a very different time in comics, and it’s something modern audiences aren’t really accustomed to. So while it would be fun, if a little humbling, to try and just impersonate them, we wanted to do something a bit different, something that would appeal to classic and modern fans alike,” Matt Rosenberg told Comicbook.com of writing STAR WARS #108.

Relive the dazzling legends of long ago and a galaxy far, far away in Marvel’s original Star Wars series with STAR WARS #50, and this May, get ready to dive into all new adventures of your favorite characters when STAR WARS #108 hits comic shops!
